ADHD stands for Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. It is a neurodevelopment disorder that affects both children and adults. ADHD is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity that can interfere with daily functioning and development. Dr. Barnard has helped many children and adults overcome their symptoms and start to live normal lives.
There are three main subtypes of ADHD:
- Predominantly Inattentive Presentation: People with this subtype have difficulty sustaining attention, following through on tasks, and organizing activities. They may often lose things, be forgetful in daily activities, and have trouble paying attention to details.
- Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation: Individuals with this subtype exhibit hyperactivity and impulsivity without significant problems with inattention. They may have difficulty sitting still, waiting their turn, or controlling their impulses.
- Combined Presentation: This is the most common subtype, where individuals display symptoms of both inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity.
